Established in 2006 by Tristan Harris, a ‘Sustainable 3D Design’ graduate of University College Falmouth, Boot & Saw offers a range of designer products from boot stands and welly racks to hat stands and bespoke contemporary furniture, all designed and hand crafted in-house.
Boot&Saw or ‘Alternature’ as it was previously known is based in the town of Redruth, Cornwall as part of the creative community that is ‘Krowji’. We also own half of ‘Harris’ Waterproof footwear and are an official retailer for Aigle Wellingtons.
We are official stockists for Viking Dryboot and Aigle including the Aigle Parcours (2) Iso Wellington Boots. We also own half of the Harris Dryboot brand of waterproof ankle boots. If you need footwear, we’ve got you covered.
An important part of Boot&Saw and something we are passionate about. We aim to make everything as eco-friendly as possible from when we design a product to how it is disposed of. We use FSC approved timber, reclaimed packaging and local suppliers. Even our sawdust is reused. We strive to make as little environmental impact as possible.
We have a background in furniture design which comes through in all we design and make. From the simplest of boot stands to high-end commissioned furniture, our eye for detail is cast over everything, meaning you get the best quality product available with a real handmade finish.
90% of our packaging is recycled. Packaging has a very short lifespan which is terrible for the environment. We collect sturdy boxes from local businesses and re-use the best of them to send out our products. Not only is this good for the environment but it keeps cost down, which means you don’t have to pay so much for shipping.
We moved into the Old Grammar School back in 2006. Now known as ‘Krowji’, it is Cornwall’s largest creative hub, providing studios, workspaces and offices for a wide range of creative businesses, and also homes the Melting Pot Cafe. It’s the perfect creative environment for us to be based. Unfortunatley, as we are a busy workshop, Boot & Saw is not open to visitors.
We often make one-off pieces, from tables to sword stands. As most items in our shop are made to order we can tweak things to suit your needs too. If you would like to commission a piece of furniture or simply want a custom wellington stand to fit in that awkward space, we’ll be happy to help.
Our wood chippings are used by a local farmer for animal bedding and the few off-cuts we have are used to make Cuckooless Clocks or to heat the homes of fellow Krowji tenants. Nothing is left to waste here at Boot & Saw.
We specialise in footwear storage and offer a range of shoe, boot or welly racks, all of which are available in a range of sizes in solid Oak or Pine. From basic floor standing boot racks to top line wall welly racks and even racks with seats, we are sure to have something to tidy that pile of boots in your porch, kitchen, hallway etc all hand-crafted and sent straight from our workshop.
